SYNOPSIS

Walking with M documents a profound peace march initiated by Sri M. Over the course of the journey, approximately 100 individuals embarked on a silent pilgrimage from Kanyakumari, the southernmost point of the Indian mainland, traversing 11 states to reach Srinagar, Kashmir, the northernmost state. This symbolic route represents the unity of the nation. Along the way, the peace marchers visited various places of worship, engaging in dialogue with diverse communities across villages, cities, and towns. Their mission was to combat hatred and extremism by championing the unifying concept of humanity beyond differences. Their grassroots efforts aimed to foster understanding and unity among the citizens of the nation.

TRIVIA

The core of ‘Walking With’ centres on the ancient Indian concept from the Rig Veda, ‘Sang Gachattavam’ meaning "may we walk together," which sparked The Walk of Hope 2015-2016, India's longest peace march.

Walking with M had a screening at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai in February 2024 which concluded with a standing ovation of 7 minutes by the audience.

Led by Sri M, the group walked 40 kilometres through the Talakaveri forest reserve, from the Kerala border into Karnataka. Unable to stay overnight in this UNESCO-tagged forest, they started their walk at 3 am, reaching the Bhagamandala basecamp by 4 pm.

In the year 2020 Sri M (Mumtaz Ali) was conferred with the Padma Bhushan award for his work on social issues and inter-faith peace and harmony.

Commodore Ravindranath, at the age of 80, completed the entire journey, steadfastly holding up the Manav Ekta Mission and the Indian flag throughout.

Between 80 to 100 walkers from various backgrounds actively participated in the entire journey, contributing to the movement.

While on the Walk, Sri M received an invitation to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican.

Between 2016 and 2019, Sri M led numerous peace marches across Berlin, Switzerland, London, and The Hague, attracting the participation of 1500 students at the ICJ Peace Palace.

Sri M achieved the completion of the Walk of Hope in April 2016 at the age of 68.

Sri M lives with his family in Bengaluru and Madanpalle, India, with his wife and children joining the Walk at various locations to show their support.

Following the Walk, Sri M persists in delivering talks and lectures on spirituality and Indian philosophy across India and around the world.
